Our youth are joining youth groups in churches across the country to collect money for those who are hungry and hurting.

The money collected at Calvary will be sent to the West End Food Pantry

Please support the youth group in this effort to “love our neighbors” by dropping your donation in the soup pot today.

GOOD SAMARITANS TO MEET

The Good Sams will meet at 6pm tomorrow, for a covered dish and white elephant sale.

Hostesses will be the Good Samaritan officers – Kitty Rauch, Nancy Haddle, Fay Matten.

LOVE BREAKFAST

Join us in the Chapel at 9am on Sunday, February 12, for a Lite breakfast of donuts, fruit, coffee, tea and juice. It is our way of saying thanks to those who are currently involved in our Sunday school and to invite those who are not so they can talk to teachers and students about “why they attend Sunday school”. We hope you will decide to stay for one of our many classes.

The Hymn Sing will be held at 7pm on Sunday, February 12, at the Garfield St. Church.

WEST END FOOD PANTRY

The Food Pantry has asked us to collect baby food for the month of February. Save your plastic grocery bags for them, too.

LENT BEGINS

A service of Holy Communion will be held at 7pm on Ash Wednesday, February 22.

Come and worship with us on this first day of the Lenten Season. Commit yourself to some discipline and growth for the next six weeks.

BISHOP’S DAY IN JOHNSTOWN DISTRICT

The evening will start with a light dinner at 5:30pm on Tuesday, February 28, at Oakland UMC . After dinner, Bishop Tom will speak and program will conclude around 8pm . The Bishop will frame the evening around a reflection paper he wrote on the Congregational Vitality Plans presented in 2011 Church Conference sessions. Discussion will be around the journey of vitality that all of us are being called to undertake in the name of Jesus Christ! The reflection paper is available in the church office if you plan to attend. All laity are invited. Meal is free. Call the district office (361-2464) to make a reservation. Deadline for reservations is February 22.

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES

Our annual girl scout cookie sale has begun. Price of cookies is $4.00/box. We are trying to raise money to travel to Washington , DC on June 8-10 for the "100th Anniversary Celebration Events" celebrating Girl Scouting. If you do not eat girl scout cookies but would like to make a $4.00 donation to buy a box of cookies to be sent to our troops overseas that would also be appreciated. There is a sign up sheet on the credenza or you may give your order to Kara Alwine, Kierra Pratt, or Josie Fox. For questions, contact Kim Garman 659-1964.

Our goal -- $12,000 for a new sound system for the sanctuary. That’s a lot of money BUT we can do it! How?

Contributions in the Together We Will offering Envelopes or HUH envelopes received in the mail. Buy a lantern (in the Chapel) from the Calvary Crafters. Name your own price. Place your donation in a “Together We Will” envelope and place it in the offering. Earn a donation every time you search the Internet or shop online. Proceeds from the “Nothing but Change” competition. Collected last week: CATS - $4.86; CC Class - $65; Fellowship Class - $1.60; L3 Eagles - $20.00; Seekers - $7..46; Sanctuary - $1.08 for a total of $100.00. Last Week’s winner: CC Class. Top Winner: CC Class. Total to date from all projects: 2,221.50.
